Rediffusion Business Electronics Litchfield.

In 1983, Business Electronics created a separate division called Field Engineering - FED for short to handle all of it's installation and maintenance work. Employing 130 people at six branches, it initially worked just for RBELs communications, Music and Business Video divisions.  Later it is exploited its skills and experience by getting work outside the Rediffusion group.

Lichfield employed four office staff and 13 technicians, all who had to be versatile in their field.
Turnover in 1984 was close to  £2 million.

Peter Miller, the Field Engineering Manager, headed up the Lichfield branch with over 25 years experience

Covering a large service area from Oswestry in the west to Skegness inthe east and Scotland in the north, FED could complete 80% of their service calls within 24 hours.

Major customers inluded: Wilkinson Transport, TNT, West Midlands Fire Service, Allied Brewery.
