"Northampton Wireless Relay Ltd." with it's offices and service department in St Katherines Terrace, started as a relay system distributing a two channel audio around the town using open wires strung between the house chimneys. This business was acquired by Rediffusion in 1965 and became part of the East Midlands Region. In 1970 the business moved to the new branch HQ in Moulton Park. The system was upgraded to comply with the Rediffusion wired sound and vision principles and made available to subscribers within the city area.
