Rediffusion Hull Reunion 2012
The Rediffusion Hull and Yorkshire annual reunion took place on Friday 7th December 2012 at the Goodfellowship Inn, Cottingham Road, Hull. This was the 28th year of reunions (although the number could be more than this according to some of those who attended).
The reunions were originally held at the King Edward pub in the centre of Hull every June and December each year but were transferred to the Goodfellowship about 15 years ago and limited to the first Friday in the month of December. This means the next reunion will be held on Friday 6th December 2013 from 7-30pm at the Goodfellowship Inn, Cottingham Road, Hull. There is usually a section of the bar that is allocated to us.
Approximately 30 people attended in December 2012 with a good cross section from the various parts of the old business - Finance, TV Engineers, Network Engineers, and Office Staff. There was excellent banter between everyone and sadness as those who had passed away during the year were remembered. One of the more senior people who passed away during the year was Frank Hague former Chief Engineer - he is mentioned a few times on the Rediffusion web site.
Old photographs were passed around and there were quite a few questions such as 'I wonder what happened to him or her? Do you remember that day on the float for the Lord Mayors Parade? Do you remember the Rediffusion snooker clubs?' Memories, memories.
Numbers are reducing year by year as age and illness have to be considered. It would be excellent if those that have attended in the past and who have not attended in recent years could come and join us again in the near future.
